The house on the extreme left of the picture is where Lt Cdr Matthews lived. He was "Skipper" of the local Sea Scouts. The large hut visible at the bottom of the garden was the Sea Scouts den. I spent many happy hours there and out on the harbour in boats.

as kids we used to sit on the wall outside Smiths crisps watching the 'ton up boys' how exciting was that! who needed computer games then? What a playground we had with the shoreline and portsdown hill!
